I got involved in the Safety Sense program basically by force of John Claytor. As he was thinking I would be a good addition to the team at the same time Phil Tudor got involved and we took over the Sense Committee and made it what it is today, A union safety program with teeth. It was exactly what we needed at the time as John was a silent but involved Coordinator, he always tried to calm us down. I was happy to be where I was making a difference! I believe everybody should be involved with the SENSE Committee or as an Officer at one point just so they can see how everything works with budgets and such. It would be an eye opening experience for all members to see what and how we deal with things on a regular basis from the Union side of safety and Union issues. As I have progressed in my Railroad Career I have felt the need to move on to a more active position in a Career that affects me as much if not more then my family, as the railroad is not just a job it is a lifestyle (Stealing a line from the Military). I am here to ease your pains with th BS the Railroad can throw at you please don't hesitate to contact me for anything you need! Most importantly GET INVOLVED!!! This is your life and your families life do what you can do to make it the best you can I am a firm believer that you have no right to complain if you haven't done everything possible to make it better.
